NEW YORK CITY  -- With agentic AI rapidly changing the developer landscape and the types of jobs developers have, the Agentic AI Foundation is trying to provide developers with tools such as MCP to help in an AI-centric world.Founded in December 2025 under the Linux Foundation, the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) serves as a hub for developing open infrastructure for agentic AI.Not only is the AAIF the focus for servers such as the Model Context Protocol and Agents.md, but it is also hoping to be a center for more agentic AI development and experimentation."The agentic stack, so to speak, is going to be built at the Agentic AI Foundation," said Jim Zemlin, the CEO of the Linux Foundation, on the latest episode of the Targeting AI podcast from AI Business, recorded on-site last week at the MCP Developer Summit presented by the Agentic AI Foundation. Zemlin added that those deploying agents need not only servers like MCP but also gateways and ways to orchestrate the agents and keep them in line.Related:OpenAI Updates Agents SDK, Aims at Building Secure AgentsHe continued that businesses trying to build safe agents might feel confident in using the tools and technologies that AAIF provides because they are being "co-developed by the best software companies in the world." However, companies and enterprises working with AAIF will also notice that the developer's role is changing."The responsibility of developers today is shifting completely," Mazin Gilbert, executive director of the AAIF, said during the podcast. "They don't write code. They do not have to debug code. They do not have to worry about scaling this horizontally or vertically.
